Howcanlight create arainbow? By: Elizabeth S and Abby VK
Materials Spray Mister Camera Sun Light Water Prism
StepsoftheExperiment First, We took a spray bottle outside that was filled with water. Then we made sure we had our backs to the sun, because to see a rainbowyou must have your backs to the sun , and you must have water drops all in front of you.
StepsoftheExperiment Second, We took the spray bottle and sprayed the water into a form of a rainbowuntil one of us spotted a rainbow. This happens because sunlight goes through every little drop of water.
StepsoftheExperiment Finally we took the prism and held it up to the sun and the other person looked through the prism and the one holding the prism shifted it, until the other one of us saw a rainbow through it.
ResultsandConclusions We saw a rainbow in the water drops and the prism because when sunlight goes through either of these things, it makes the colors of the rainbow appear. But the sun is white light that just separates into colors when it shines trough water droplets or a prism, because each water drop is like a tiny prism.
RelatedTopics Sir Isaac Newton – Q: What does Sir Isaac Newton have to do with rainbows? A: He discovered that Sunlightcan be broken up into many colors. Sunlight – Q: How does Sunlight relate to Rainbows? A: Sunlight breaks up into the colors of a rainbow. Water – Q: What does water have to do with a rainbow? A: Water is what forms a rainbow. And adds colors to it with help of the Sunlight.
SirIsaacNewton Sir Isaac Newton was born on December 25, 1642 in a manor house in Lincolnshire, England. He was not at all interested in his families farm so he went to Cambridge University to study. There he became one of the greatest scientist because he took his ideas, and the ideas of earlier scientist, and he combined the ideas into a picture of how the universe works. He also discovered how light can break up to make a rainbow. He died on March 31, 1727 in Kingston, Middlesex, England being 84 years old.
Fun Facts Did you know that there is such thing as a sundog this is actually a upside down rainbow. Most people think that the only colors in a rainbow are…… red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. But a rainbow is actually made up of hundreds of colors the eye can’t see!! In a rainbow, red is bent the least and violet the most, this happens because red starts a rainbow and violet ends it.
HowdidweseeGodinthis? Genesis 9:12-13 says And God said, This is a sign of the covenant I am making between me, you, and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Howdid weseeGodinthis? This bible verses means a lot to us, because to us we think God is trying to tell everybody that he will always be there for and with us, even in our misery. God will never leave us and he will always forgive us. Trust in God, always believe in him.
We are so happy that made the rainbow! GOD
